Chapter 29

Beloved, I always reveal the divine person, and only the divine person is revealed by me

All formally acknowledged devotees advanced to practicing stage four or practicing stage five in the technically “fully elaborated” course of the way of the heart should practice either self-enquiry or mahamantra meditation. And the technically “elaborate” practice of either self-enquiry and re-cognition or mahamantra meditation, once established, may be continued during practicing stage six of the technically “fully elaborated” form of the way of the heart. In any case, whatever by me given form of the way of the heart is chosen by my devotee, the consistent application of practice should continue until it becomes the “practice” of self-abiding transcendental divine recognition, which is demonstrated in the context of the seventh stage of life. And the “practice” of transcendental divine recognition should continue thereafter, until death or divine translation.

After the death of my devotee, should divine translation not yet occur, self-surrender and great heart-practice should be continued in every further circumstance and cosmic plane that appears. Therefore, after death, the way of the heart should be practiced from and at the heart, and always in my revealed heart-company, and always in the mere and blessing presence of the spiritual, transcendental, and divine forms of the divine and great person.

The practice of either mature self-enquiry or mature true prayer or the “perfect practice” is for those whose surrender has advanced beyond the beginners stages and the earliest devotional stages of life in the way of the heart. The true practitioner of the way of the heart must first listen to me and then hear me, or thoroughly observe and most fundamentally understand and begin to be released from the self-contraction, by constantly turning attention to me in my foundation function as heart-teacher. Through the ordeal of such attention, the human dramatizations of “narcissus” are understood most fundamentally. When action, body, mind, and emotion are reoriented by this self-submission and this most fundamental self-understanding, then I may be truly seen from the heart.

The human and spiritual ordeal of self-discipline, self-observation, most fundamental self-understanding, and effective submission of separate and separative self must necessarily precede fully advanced self-enquiry and re-cognition, and the same human and spiritual ordeal must necessarily precede fully advanced true prayer, and also the “perfect practice”. That earlier human and spiritual ordeal requires the most profound heart-surrender of the conditional self to me. And I serve that surrender of heart by many means, which I have described to you. Therefore, when the frontal personality is converted, purified, stabilized, and altogether brought to spirit-life in my company, self-enquiry must be intensified, or else true prayer must likewise be intensified, or the “perfect practice” must be embraced as the primary practice.

When the signs of my seeing devotees submission to the spiritual practice of self-transcendence are stabilized and full, and when my seeing devotees reception and acknowledgement of the spiritual condition are secure, beyond the limits of the frontal line of the body-mind, my seeing devotee is to be called by more advanced instruction, and the practice is to be transmitted to my seeing devotee by means of formal initiation, and in the context of full access to the living transmission of my mere presence and blessing power.

The intention of the work of the physical lifetime of my bodily form in this world is to originate and to fully develop and to fully communicate my heart-revealing word, to call all who will listen to my word to do so, to empower unique places and forms, to call a truly devotional, truly serving, and truly self-disciplined community of listening devotees, hearing devotees, and seeing devotees, to call a most fully responsive practicing culture of “lay renunciate” and “free renunciate” seeing-devotees, and, finally, the intention of the work of the physical lifetime of my bodily form is to awaken true, right, and really empowered agency in the form of one perfectly awakened “free renunciate” devotee, who will function as a “living murti” of my spiritual presence and my very state, and whose calling or purpose it will be to provide the principal human vehicle that will authoritatively extend my heart-revealing word and my awakening-power or heart-blessing into the play of human relations immediately after the physical lifetime of my own bodily form.

I am the heart itself, the self-revealed divine person, the inherently perfect self of all and all, eternally prior to birth, death, and conditional existence. Because I am the heart itself, the self-revealed divine person, the inherently perfect self of all and all, I cannot be “succeeded” by any one, or by any principle, or by any “other” at all. Therefore, I am, forever, the hridaya-samartha sat-guru of all my listening devotees, and of all my hearing devotees, and of all my seeing devotees, and of even all formally acknowledged practitioners of the way of the heart, in all times and places. Even so, after, and forever after, the physical lifetime of my bodily human form, I can be served, and represented, and revealed, in every then present-time, by that one of my perfectly, and, thus, truly divinely, awakened “free renunciate” devotees whose unique transparency to me allows his or her own bodily human form to function, for others, as a direct agent, or “living murti”, or then present-time and physically living helping-means, for “locating” my spiritual presence and my very state.

The ordeal of the work of the physical lifetime of my bodily form dramatically magnifies the great creative impulse and blessing whereby real and true instruments and agents of the spiritually living and transcendentally existing divine person are called into being and securely established and activated in this world. Therefore, my intention has been put to work. The teaching and the calling are given. The blessing is here. And, before the physical death of my bodily form, my first inherently perfect “free renunciate” devotees must awaken. And, from among those first of my seventh stage “free renunciate” devotees, the first devotee-agent of my spiritual presence and my very state must be formally acknowledged, for my first “living murti” and his or her successors are to be the principal human means whereby my heart-revealing word, my initiatory influence, and my revelation of the spiritual, transcendental, and divine forms are transmitted to all the generations of mankind.

Originally, i, through the agency of my own bodily form, initiate and bless the practice of those who embrace the way of the heart. In due course, as the community of formally acknowledged and true practitioners of the way of the heart grows in size and maturity in my company, formal initiation into any form of practice of the way of the heart is to be given via those practitioners who have truly matured in that practice. And, after the progressive development and formal acknowledgement of a first gathering of true and mature instruments of my word and blessing, all student-novices and all formally acknowledged practitioners should receive the same formal initiations and instructions received by that first instrumental gathering of those who hear me and see me and fulfill my calling in truth. Therefore, in time, those who are called to serve the formal initiation of others should do so in a direct line of succession from the first formally acknowledged instrumental gathering of those who rightly receive and really practice and truly fulfill the word and the process of my instruction and my blessing. And that formal initiation should be done in the sacred manner, in my name, and, in the case of all formally acknowledged practitioners of the way of the heart, in the context of full access to the living transmission of my mere presence and blessing power.

Over time, and after the physical lifetime of my bodily form, it becomes necessary that my words of instruction and the culture of the total process of the way of the heart be directly served by the spiritually empowered instrumentality of my advanced “lay renunciate” and “free renunciate” devotees, and also by the spiritually empowered agency of my “living murtis”. Therefore, beginning even during the physical lifetime of my bodily form, and forever thereafter, my formally acknowledged devotee-instruments are to be called to sacramentally initiate all advanced and advancing devotees into advanced and advancing self-enquiry, advanced and advancing true prayer, the “perfect practice”, and every other discipline, developmental stage, practice, or process associated with the actually seeing course of every by me given form of the way of the heart. Likewise, my devotee-instruments are also to be called to regulate and oversee the formal initiation of all formal student-novices, all formally acknowledged early-life practitioners, all formally acknowledged student-beginners, all formally acknowledged beginning “lay congregationists”, and all those who advance to and through the three periods of practicing stage one of the technically “fully elaborated” form of the way of the heart. And whenever I so indicate, and especially after the physical lifetime of my bodily human form, my formally acknowledged “living murti” is to be uniquely honored and devotionally contemplated, because of his or her divinely enlightened bodily example of devotion to me, and in order to contemplate his or her bodily sign and revelation of me. And my formally acknowledged “living murti” is to be devotionally approached for his or her darshan, and for his or her uniquely helpful commentaries on my word of instruction, and for his or her divinely enlightened bodily example of devotion to me. In this manner, all who surrender the separate and separative self in feeling-contemplation of me via my “living murti” may, by that contemplative devotion, always be established in satsang with me.

All formal student-novices, approaching the way of the heart, and all formal early-life practitioners, student-beginner practitioners, beginning “lay renunciate” practitioners, and beginning “lay congregationist” practitioners of the way of the heart, should be formally initiated into the constant formal circumstance of “consideration” of my word and my leelas, and the constant formal circumstance of feeling-contemplation of my bodily form, my spiritual presence, and my very state.

Each beginning “lay renunciate” practitioner of the technically “fully elaborated” form of the way of the heart, and each beginning “lay congregationist” practitioner of the technically “simpler”, or even “simplest”, form of the way of the heart, should be formally initiated into the particular form and manner of practice he or she finally chose, on the basis of real practicing “consideration”, during the student-beginner stage of the way of the heart, and all such practitioners should, during that same initiatory occasion, be formally initiated into all of the basic disciplines. Likewise, all those who make the transition to the second period of the intensive listening-hearing process of the way of the heart should be formally initiated into their new responsibilities. And all those prepared to practice on the firm basis of true hearing should likewise be formally initiated into that new responsibility. And whenever any practitioner enters the would-be-seeing stage of the way of the heart, or any actually seeing stage of the way of the heart, he or she should be formally initiated into the new responsibilities of that new developmental stage of the way of the heart. And even all practitioners of the devotional way of insight, and, of course, all practitioners of the devotional way of faith, should, by formal sacramental initiation, receive my principal name, the two variant forms of the sat-guru-naama mantra, and the basic and the variant forms of the mahamantra, since all practitioners in the way of the heart practice sacramental devotion and other forms of devotional culture wherein invocation of me via my principal name, the two variant forms of the sat-guru-naama mantra, and the various by me given forms of the mahamantra is regularly made, and even all my devotees invoke me via my principal name, on random occasions, or as necessary, and even, as necessary, in the context of formal meditation.

Therefore, whenever any would-be practitioner of the way of the heart becomes a student-novice, and whenever any student-novice becomes a formally acknowledged student-beginner in the way of the heart, and whenever any formally acknowledged practitioner of the way of the heart is fully and rightly prepared to accept responsibility for any new form of practice, he or she should prepare for formal sacramental initiation by studying this, my testament of secrets. Then the essential elements of the new practice, including any by me given means of meditation, and also including any other specific disciplines that I have given for the use of practitioners of the way of the heart, should be given directly to the individual, in a sacred initiatory ceremony and setting. And after the individual is initiated by these means, the theoretical, and the technical ), and the practical “consideration” of the new practice should be developed in formal instructional and educational gatherings.

The instructions I have given relative to meditation are not otherwise to be guarded and regarded in the traditional manner of “secret” teachings. Therefore, this testament, along with all other forms of my full-given word, should be openly communicated to all.

The revelation of the way of the heart is given by divine grace, as a means for the awakening of true hearing in my every listening devotee, and as a means for the reception of grace and the awakening of spiritual, transcendental, and divine realization in the case of each and all of my devotees.

Therefore, those who freely receive and accept this divine grace should also be humbled by it, and they should allow their hearts to be husbanded by me. Indeed, all my devotees should, even from the beginning of their practice of the way of the heart, and on the basis of most fundamental self-understanding, and on the basis of the free acceptance of my husbanding of the heart, readily apply themselves to a happily disciplined order of daily living, exhibiting a right and true orientation toward sila, or self-restraint and economy in relation to their functional existence.

God, or truth, or love is not patently in charge of all finite and local events, but only potentially so, depending on the orientation of the beings and processes.

Love is the truth, and love is potentially the master.

The body is male or female, thus tending either to conserve or to be conserved in the dynamic play of life. In either case, male or female is obliged to be motivated by love, and to be concentric with it. And if the orientation is not to love, the psycho-physical being wanders chaotically, dissonant, and dissident from all and all, and always separate from truth and happiness.

The heart of every being, male or female, is, in its core, yearning to be husbanded or mastered by god, the divine person, or love. I am here to reveal the eternal husband of mankind. I am here to love all beings, and to make all beings concentric with love, that they may incarnate love, conformed to the virtue of their husband.
