THE DAWN HORSE TESTAMENT (1991)

Chapter 32

And Be Mindful Of How You Address Me

In The Case Of those Of My Advanced Practicing Devotees
who Practice The Technically “Fully Elaborated” Form Of The
Way Of The Heart In The Manner Of The Devotional Way Of
Faith, One (and Only One ) Mahamantra (Among The Several By
Me Given Variant Mahamantra Forms) Is (At Practicing Stage
Four Of The Technically “Fully Elaborated” Form Of The Way
Of The Heart) To Be Chosen (By The Practitioner) and Then
Given (Via Formal Initiation) Specifically For Use In
Meditation.

In The Case Of Each and Every One Of Its By Me Given
Variant Forms, The Mahamantra Is Made Of Two, Three, or More
Distinct Word-Signs. Therefore, The Particular Word-Signs In
Any By Me Given Mahamantra (or Any By Me Given Mantra Of Any
Kind) Should Not Be Blended Together As A Single Word (As
If, For Example, In The Case Of The Principal, or Original,
Form Of The Mahamantra, Its Form Were “Ommada”).

Verbal Invocation At The Ajna Door (Via The “Meaningless”
Pointer or Mahamantra) Should Be Persistent, Although
Occasional and Random (or, In The Case Of Da-Om Japa,
Repetitive, In time With Each exhalation-inhalation Cycle Of
the breath). Even So, Engagement Of The Mahamantra Should Be
(and Will Naturally or Spontaneously Tend To Be) Freely
Relinquished When, In any moment or period Of Meditation,
attention Relaxes The Hold On mind and body and There Is
Natural Absorption In The (By Grace Revealed) Love-Bliss Of
Upward Feeling-Contemplation Of Me. (Likewise, Any verbal
Form Of True Prayer, or Else The verbal Practice Of
self-Enquiry, and Even Meditative Pondering Of Any Of My
Great Questions, and Even Any Form Of Intentional
Spirit-Conductivity Practice Should Be, and Will Naturally
or Spontaneously Tend To Be, Freely Relinquished In any
moment or period Of Meditation That Has Become, or Is
Becoming, Deep.) Just So, Mahamantra Practice Itself, If It
Is Continued, Will Play, At Most, A Secondary (and Always
Passing) Role Once The Transition Is Made To Practicing
Stage Six Of The Technically “Fully Elaborated” Form Of The
Way Of The Heart. And, Once There Is The Most (and
Inherently) Perfect Awakening To The Transcendental, and
Inherently Spiritual, Divine Self-Condition, In The
Transition To The Seventh Stage Of Life In The Way Of The
Heart, Mahamantra Practice (Like The verbal Recitation
Associated With Any Other Form Of True Prayer, In The Way Of
The Heart) Has Always Already Perfectly Fulfilled Its
“Meaningless” Purpose.

The Practice Of (Either Technically “Elaborate” Or
Technically “Simpler”) self-Enquiry In The Context Of Either
The “Advanced” Fourth Stage Of Life Or The Fifth Stage Of
Life In The Way Of The Heart Is Also (Like Any Form Of True
Prayer In The Same Developmental Stages) Naturally (and
Otherwise Necessarily and Inevitably) Associated With
attention At The Ajna Door. Likewise, The Process Of
self-Enquiry In The Context Of Either The “Advanced” Fourth
Stage Of Life Or The Fifth Stage Of Life In The Way Of The
Heart Is Naturally (and Otherwise Necessarily and
Inevitably) Associated With Release Of conditional states
(or forms of self-Contraction) In The Pattern Of Ascent,
Perhaps Even Until There Is Absorption Of attention In The
Matrix (or Apparent Source) Above.

The General Rule Relative To The Practice Of self-Enquiry
(and, Eventually, Non-verbal Re-Cognition) Is That, At Each
Stage Of Life and Practice In The Way Of The Heart (Whether
In The Listening Context, Or In The Hearing Context, Or In
The Would-Be-Seeing, or Progressively Seeing, Context, Or In
The Context Of Actual Seeing), The (At First Merely Natural,
and Then, In Due Course, Actually Spiritual) Conductivity
Exercises (and Their Associated Orientation Of attention)
Should Be Practiced, At Random, In Meditation and In daily
living. Indeed, As The Process Of self-Enquiry Progresses,
There Is A Natural (or Otherwise Inevitable and Spontaneous)
Tendency To Practice (Natural, or, Eventually, Spiritual)
Conductivity (and, Likewise, To Direct attention) In The
Manner I Have Described For Each Developmental Stage. Then,
On The Basis Of The Right Intentional Practice Of (Natural,
or, Eventually, Spiritual) Conductivity (and The Right
Focusing Of attention), The Discipline Is To Practice
self-Enquiry (As A Random, but Constantly Effective,
Exercise) In The Context Of any and (Potentially) all
conditions that arise in or to mind or body.

Verbal self-Enquiry Should Generally Be Done silently
(With “the tongue of the mind”), and The Practice Of
self-Enquiry Should (Even In The Student-Beginner, or First
Listening, Stage, and In The Later, Intensive
Listening-Hearing Stage, Of The Way Of The Heart) Involve
The Observation and (Progressively) The Relaxation (or The
Simple Release, or The At Least Partial and Temporary
Transcendence) Of the mind itself (and, Once There Is True
Hearing, or Most Fundamental self-Understanding, The Direct,
and More and More Profoundly Effective, Transcendence Of the
mind itself). Just So, Even any time After self-Enquiry
Becomes Established On The Basis Of True Hearing, and
Especially Once Such Practice Is Fully Established In The
Context Of The “Basic” Fourth Stage Of Life In The Way Of
The Heart (and Thereafter), verbal self-Enquiry Will (Even
Generally, and Especially In the Deepening and Deep moments
or periods Of Meditation) Tend More and More To Be Replaced
By Tacit, or Non-verbal, Re-Cognition.

To Practice Tacit, or Non-verbal, Re-Cognition Is To
“Know” the self-Contraction ( as self-Contraction) Again ,
In The Context Of (and Even as) each and (Potentially) every
moment of conditional arising, and (Thereby) To Directly
Transcend self-Contraction (By “Re-Knowing”
self-Contraction, and, Thus, Identifying it as such, and, In
That “Re-Knowing”, Re-Claiming and Directly Re-Enacting The
Capability To Feel Beyond self-Contraction).

Even every object perceived by the conditional self is a
psycho-physical experience, conditioned by the conditional
self (or the self-Contracted body-mind). Therefore, Tacit,
or Non-verbal, Re-Cognition Is A Matter Of Simple attention
to whatever conditionally arises, Noticing (or “Knowing
Again”, or Directly Realizing) That whatever is
conditionally arising Has The Form Of the self-Contraction,
and Then (or On The Basis Of That Noticing) Directly Feeling
Beyond the self-Contraction (Just As In The Case Of verbal
self-Enquiry, but Without verbal self-Enquiry). And Tacit,
or Non-verbal, Re-Cognition (and Direct Transcendence) Of
the self-Contraction, In The Context Of any (and,
Potentially, Even every) conditional form or event that
arises, Continues, or Must Continue, At Least As A
Feeling-Process, Even In Deep Meditation, or (Certainly)
Whenever any observable or objectified phenomenon (or Even
The Feeling Of Relatedness Itself) arises.

When Re-Cognition Begins (and As The Total Practice Of
self-Enquiry Matures Toward Transcendental, Inherently
Spiritual, and, Ultimately, Divine Self-Realization), Even
all arising conditions (Including all conceptual thoughts,
and Even all forms of perception, or perceptual mind) Are To
Be Re-Cognized (As self-Contraction), and Thus Felt Beyond.
This Finally (In The Context Of The Sixth Stage Of Life In
The Way Of The Heart) Becomes Re-Cognition (and Most Direct
Transcendence) Of The Feeling Of Relatedness Itself (Which,
It Is To Be Discovered, Is The Ultimate, or Original, Form
Of the self-Contraction itself).

When, In The Context Of The Sixth Stage Of Life In The
Way Of The Heart, The Feeling Of Relatedness Is Itself
Re-Cognized As self-Contraction (and, Via That Re-Cognition,
Directly Transcended), The Transcendental (and Inherently
Spiritual) Self-Condition, or The Real Happiness Of
Self-Existing Consciousness, Stands (Exclusively)
Self-Revealed. However, After Transcendental (and Inherently
Spiritual) Self-Realization Is Inherently and Divinely
Perfected (In The Awakening To The Seventh Stage Of Life In
The Way Of The Heart), arising conditions (and The Feeling
Of Relatedness Itself) Are No Longer Re-Cognized As
self-Contraction and Then Felt Beyond. Instead, arising
conditions (Including The Feeling Of Relatedness Itself) Are
Inherently (and Divinely) Recognized In and As The
Self-Radiant (“Bright”, or Non-Contracted) Condition (and
Native Feeling) Of Self-Existing Being. Thus, In The Context
Of The Seventh Stage Of Life In The Way Of The Heart, The
conditional Process Of the arising of phenomena and The
Feeling Of Relatedness Is Always Already Transcended In The
Perpetual (or Eternal) Transcendental (and Inherently
Spiritual) Event Of Divine Self-Inherence and (On That
Basis) In The moment to moment Process Of Divine Recognition
Of (Apparent) conditions In The “Bright”.

The Total Practice Of self-Enquiry (For all those who
Have Already Listened To Me To The Degree Of Truly Hearing
Me) May Be Summarized As Follows: Surrender (the body-mind,
From The Heart, Based On Most Fundamental
self-Understanding) To Me (and, Thus and Thereby, To The
Form, or Forms, Of The Divine Person, As Revealed,
Progressively, At Each Advanced or, Otherwise, Ultimate
Stage Of Life Entered In The Way Of The Heart), and (At Each
Advanced or, Otherwise, Ultimate Stage Of Life Entered In
The Way Of The Heart) Embrace Each and All Of The By Me
Given Forms Of functional, practical, relational, and
Cultural Discipline Of the conditional self, and Practice
(At Random) The Appropriate By Me Given Discipline Of
Spirit-Conductivity and attention (As Given At Each Advanced
or, Otherwise, Ultimate Stage Of Life Entered In The Way Of
The Heart), and (At Each Advanced or, Otherwise, Ultimate
Stage Of Life Entered In The Way Of The Heart) Enquire Into
the conditional self (or the self-Contraction) In The
Context Of whatever arises.

As I Have Demonstrated By My Own Spontaneous Life-History
(In The Developing Course Of The Physical Lifetime Of My
Bodily Human Form), The Real and Advancing Practice Of
self-Enquiry (Once It Becomes Founded On The Effective
Exercise Of True Hearing) Becomes Oriented (By Grace) Toward
Coincidence With The Grace-Given Progressive (and Truly
Devotional, or Heart-Active) Process Of Spirit-Conductivity
(and A Corresponding Movement Of attention), Especially
Shown In Meditation. And (Once It Is Awakened) That
Grace-Given Progressive Process Moves In The Circle Of the
body-mind, First Descending, Then (Potentially, and As
Necessary) Ascending, Until It Enters The Heart On The Right
Side, and (Thus) Allows (First) The Revelation Of The
Transcendental (and Inherently Spiritual) Condition Of Being
(Itself), Then The “Regeneration” Of Amrita Nadi (In Sahaj
Samadhi, or “Bright Open Eyes”), and, Finally, Divine
Translation (or The Outshining Of conditional, or Apparently
Objective, Existence In The Realization Of Perfectly
Subjective, or Transcendental and “Bright”, Divine
Self-Existence).

Therefore, In The Way Of The Heart, The Practice Of
(Either Technically “Elaborate” Or Technically “Simpler”)
self-Enquiry Develops In The Same (General) Manner, and On
The Same (General) Basis, As The Practice Of (Either
Technically “Elaborate” Or Technically “Simpler”, or Even
“Simplest”) True Prayer, Except That (By Comparison)
Spiritually Awakened self-Enquiry, or Even any moment Of The
Hearing Devotees Directly self-Transcending self-Enquiry
(and, Potentially, Even any moment Of The Listening Devotees
Pondering), Transcends the self-Contraction (Always In and
By Grace Of My Heart-Company) By (First) Observing and
(Then) Feeling Beyond the self-Contraction, Whereas Advanced
True Prayer (Including Mahamantra Meditation), or Even any
moment Of The Hearing Devotees Directly self-Transcending
Practice Of True Prayer (and, Potentially, Even any moment
Of The Listening Devotees Practice Of True Prayer),
Transcends the self-Contraction More Simply, By (First and
Simply and Merely) “Locating” Me (and, Thus and Thereby, The
Divine Person), and (Then and Simply and Merely) Allowing Me
(and The, Thus and Thereby, Revealed Divine Person) To Be
Attractive (As My Bodily Human Form, and As My Spiritual,
and Always Blessing, Presence, and As My Very, and
Inherently Perfect, State), So That the self-Contraction
Releases Responsively, or As An Inevitable Result Of
Intentional (and Otherwise Spontaneous) self-Submission To
The Ultimate (and Inherently Perfect) State (or Very
Condition) Of The Great Attraction. And True Satsang With Me
Is The Given and Great Primary Basis (or Heart-Environment)
In Which Such self-Transcending Processes or Events
Gracefully (and Progressively) Occur (In Both The Devotional
Way Of Insight and The Devotional Way Of Faith) For All
Listening Devotees, All Hearing Devotees, and All Seeing
Devotees In The Way Of The Heart.

In The Way Of The Heart, The Practice Of self-Enquiry
Notices and Then Freely Releases (or Directly Feels Beyond)
the self-Contraction, So That Heart-Communion With My Bodily
(Human) Form, My Spiritual (and Always Blessing) Presence,
and My Very (and Inherently Perfect) State (and, Thus and
Thereby, Heart-Communion With The Gracefully Revealed Forms
Of The Divine Person and Condition) Is, Progressively,
Directly Enjoyed In this (and every) moment, Whereas True
Prayer (Including Mahamantra Meditation) Simply (or Directly
and Merely) Surrenders To Heart-Communion With My Bodily
(Human) Form, My Spiritual (and Always Blessing) Presence,
and My Very (and Inherently Perfect) State (and, Thus and
Thereby, To The Divine Attractiveness, and To Realization Of
The Thus and Thereby Gracefully Revealed Forms Of the Divine
Person or Condition) In this (and every) moment, and the
self-Contraction Is Thus, Progressively, Also Released (or
Felt Beyond) In this (and every) moment.

In The Way Of The Heart, The Practice Of self-Enquiry
Constantly Notices and Feels Beyond the self-Contraction
(and All Of its Results), Thus (Progressively, and More and
More Directly and Constantly) Restoring The Process Of
Heart-Communion With Me (and, Thus and Thereby, With The
Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Divine), Until (By Grace) The
Transcendental (or Self-Existing) and Inherently Spiritual
(or Self-Radiant) and (Necessarily) Divine Self-Condition Of
Being, Consciousness, and Happiness Reveals Itself Utterly
(or, By Grace, Simply Stands Revealed As The Obvious).

In The Way Of The Heart, True Prayer (Including
Mahamantra Meditation) Simply and Constantly Communes With
Me In My Inherent “Bright” Attractiveness (and, Thus and
Thereby, With The Self-Existing, and Self-Radiant, or
“Bright”, and Inherently Attractive Divine), and the
self-Contraction Is Inevitably (or Progressively, and More
and More Directly and Constantly, and Always Spontaneously)
Relinquished By That Sympathetic Communion, Until (By Grace)
There Is Only The Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Divine
Being, Consciousness, and Happiness.
