THE DAWN HORSE TESTAMENT (1991)

Chapter 35

And Become Full Of My Revelation Of The Living One

In The (Potential) Ascending Practice Of The Way Of The
Heart (Whether In Its Technically “Fully Elaborated” Form Or
In Its Technically “Simpler”, or Even “Simplest”, Form), The
Technical Practice Of lung-breathing Spirit-Conductivity In
The Circle May Be Engaged At Random (or, In The Case Of
Da-Om Japa, Repetitively timed with the breath) As A
Supportive or Skillful Means For Collecting (and Releasing)
attention, mind, vitality, bodily Orientation, and All
Heart-Feeling At (and Above) The Ajna Door During Ascending
Mahamantra Practice (Especially In Meditation), and Also (At
Random) During The Exercise Of Any Other Ascending Form Of
True Prayer, and Also (At Random) During The Ascending
Exercise Of self-Enquiry.

In The Ascending Stages Of The Way Of The Heart, the body
Should (As A General Rule) Be Constantly (or By Means Of A
Consistently Re-Introduced, or Random, but Rather Frequent,
Intention) Relaxed Along The Spinal Line Toward The Crown Of
the head and Above. Then, At Random, the breath Can Be Used,
As I Have Described (and, Whenever Necessary or Appropriate,
Even In The Manner Of The Traditional Bellows Breathing, or
Vase Breathing), To Move (or To Move With) The (By Grace
Revealed) Spiritual Life-Current In The Circle (or Even The
Arrow). In That Case, when inhaling Via The Frontal Line,
Artful Locking Of the bodily base May Be Applied At times,
To Draw Down and Hold The Spiritual Life-Current In The
Frontal (lower abdominal) Spirit-Focus (Which Focus Also
Corresponds To The lower abdominal Center, or bodily
“Battery”, Of Natural bodily energy). Also, Artful Locking
Of the bodily base May Otherwise Be Applied To “Shoot” The
Spiritual Life-Current Upwards (From the bodily base) Via
The Spinal Line With exhalation, or Even To Serve or
Emphasize The Drawing Up Of The Spiritual Life-Current (From
the bodily base) Through The Spinal Line With inhalation.
(It May Also Be Found Occasionally Useful To Hold the breath
In the abdomen Briefly, While Locking the bodily base, After
inhaling To The lower abdominal Spirit-Center Via The
Frontal Line.) Likewise, the tongue Should (Even In The
Practice Of Any Form Of Spirit-Conductivity) Always Be
Allowed To Rest or Press Lightly Upon the roof of the mouth,
and the eyes Should Be Allowed To Close and Turn Upwards
(Naturally, or Spontaneously, Without Forcing).

At times (In The Ascending Course Of The Way Of The
Heart), It May Be Found Useful To Make An Even More Strong
Engagement Of the inhaled breath For These Same Purposes.
Thus, On any inhalation (and Even For several following
inhalations), While Drawing Up The By Grace Revealed
Spiritual Life-Current Via The Spinal Line To The Ajna Door
(Either Directly From the bodily base, Or From the solar
plexus and abdomen Via the bodily base), the inhaled breath
Can Be Pressed Up Into The Brain Core and Held In the upper
rear of the head, Locked and Suspended there By The Upward
Pressure and Intention. This Holding (or Intentional
Kumbhak) Can Be Maintained For several moments, Even Just To
The Point Where exhalation Becomes Inevitable and Necessary
For Comfort. (In Fact, This Brief Intentional Kumbhak Is
Basically The Same Practice I Have Recommended For Use In
The Fully Developed Exercise Of The Prayer Of Changes, At
The First Actually Seeing Stage, and Beyond, In The Way Of
The Heart, and Also As One Of The Technical Means For
Conserving and Converting the conventional orgasm In Sexual
Communion.) Indeed, In The Ascending Context Of The Way Of
The Heart, either the exhaled or the inhaled breath May (As
Appropriate To The Developmental Stage Of Practice) Be
Intentionally Used To Press The Spirit-Current and attention
Upwards At The Ajna Door (Whether Via The Spinal Line Or
Simply At The Ajna Door Itself).

Also, Whether In The Technically “Fully Elaborated”
Context Of The Way Of The Heart Or, Otherwise, In The
Context Of The Technically “Simpler”, or Even “Simplest”,
Practice Of The Way Of The Heart, It May Be Found That A
Natural (and Spontaneous, and Even Prolonged) Kumbhak (or An
Upward Retention Of breath) Occurs During Deep Meditation,
Particularly In The Context Of Either The “Advanced” Fourth
Stage Or The Fifth Stage Of Life In The Way Of The Heart.
(And Spontaneous Kumbhak, Generally Without Any Upwardness
Of attention, May Even Appear In The Context Of The Sixth
Stage Of Life In The Way Of The Heart.) Even the heartbeat
May Temporarily Come To Rest In Deep Meditation. Or All
Awareness Of breath, heartbeat, and body May Cease At times.
Just So, In The Context Of Ascending Practice In The Way Of
The Heart, The Awareness Of The Circle May Spontaneously
Yield To The Awareness Of The Arrow. In Any Case, All
Intentional “Working” Of The Spirit-Current Via the breath
Should Eventually (In Any Event Of Truly Deepening
Meditation In The Context Of Either The Frontal Or The
Spinal Course Of Practice In The Way Of The Heart) Yield To
Simple Observation Of the breath-Cycle and The Voluntary (or
Even Intentional) Following Of The Movements Of The By Grace
Revealed Spiritual Current Of Life. And (Until Spontaneous
and Stable Identification With The Witness-Position Of
Consciousness Intervenes To Transfer Practice Of The Way Of
The Heart To The Context Of The Sixth Stage Of Life) Even
This Disposition (That Simply Observes the breath and
Voluntarily Follows The Spirit-Life) Must Eventually Be
Spontaneously Replaced By The Utterly Ecstatic Swoon Of
Faith, In Which body, breath, mind, attention, and All
Heart-Feeling Are Simply (and Utterly) Relaxed and Released
(or Utterly Yielded To Be Carried) In The Spirit-Flow Of
Love-Bliss (Even, Perhaps, Into The Ascending Course).
