The Hypocrisy of Popular Disgust

The gross-minded “news and information” media of popular culture do not often invite the public to the exercise of discriminating intelligence. On the contrary, the gross-minded popular media thrive on hype, propagandized states of emotion and mind, and nondiscriminating responses to every kind of advertised goods, persuasions, and results.
Until the media that inform the masses of humanity begin to invite the individual to exercise discriminating intelligence in all matters, and until human beings in general become founded in the greater Wisdom culture and the intimate, cooperative politics of authentic human existence, there can be no true wondering about the madness inherited in the daily “news”.
Indeed, the hypocritical media reaction of surprise and disgust in the face of all the kinds of fascinating and bizarre “news” in the world is even the product of a kind of competitive rivalry. The “cult” of the “news” presumes itself to be senior and superior to any phenomenon about which it reports. Everyone in the world is in the “cult” game, including the media themselves. Everyone wishes to be glamorous and right and the center of attention.
The “news” is one of the principal forms of popular entertainment in this “late-time’ (or “dark” epoch). The “messenger” is glamorized by the so-called “superior” entertainment value of every kind of message. Therefore, the “news” exploits the vulgarity of subhuman events and bastardizes the achievements of developmentally advanced men and women. Then why should there be any wondering if immature people follow false “cults”, false leaders, false ideologies, and destructive causes? To be enthusiastic and also false is the hypocritical core of the “American Way”. Indeed, Western society as a whole was founded on religious lies, political exploitation, and manipulative propaganda of every kind. And these means are yet to be overcome.
The popular media that “inform” the world’s populations are not simply “guardians of human rights and all the truth” even though they may wish to be known as such. Rather, they are also propaganda tools for the more or less official “cult” of “Everyman”, or the “cult” of things as they can seem to be. As nondiscriminating propaganda tools, popular media are themselves among the primary tools that actively work against the freedom of mankind to transcend mob rule and to create an intimate, cooperative culture in which the unofficial, developmental, religious, Spiritual, Transcendental, and Divine Wisdom that has yet found dominion only at the fringes of society is allowed to be the center of human existence and the dominant influence on human action.
“You must understand the merely destructive adolescent reaction of despair and clinging to the hopefulness of less popular illusions that flatter the mind and give you reasons to avoid the call to compassion and love.”
You must awaken from the sleep of Wisdom. You must be self-critical, and you must discriminate among all the superficial doctrines that surround you and that arise within you. You must see the childish tendency in “Everyman” to be parented by dominant, powerful, and “official” influences. Likewise, you must understand the merely destructive adolescent reaction of despair and clinging to the hopefulness of less popular illusions that flatter the mind and give you reasons to avoid the call to compassion and love.
The mass of humanity is the child of the parentlike State and all of the fake mind of popular culture. Mankind lies in wait for “official” permission to believe and know and feel and act. You await the theatrical cues that govern universal responses. You seek permission to laugh, the authority to be Happy, the right to the fullness of Divine Life. Instead, you must “consider” the Argument of Truth. You must respond to the Truth and awaken to the timely demand of your true adulthood.
