Chapter 7: What Is Wisdom? God-Realization Is the Transcendence of Experience
The processes of conventional religious mysticism and esoteric yoga can ultimately be analyzed and reduced to a conditional psycho-physical description. Such processes belong entirely to the egoic realm of the manifest body-mind. They do not lead to God, nor are they inherently spiritual (or Spirit-Realizing), since God, or the Divine Spirit, is Transcendental and Absolute. Truly, the extraordinary phenomena of conventional religious mysticism and esoteric yoga belong to the realm of higher human evolution within the Cosmic Sphere or Realm of the Machine of Nature, not to the Realm of God-Realization. (Such phenomena are not to be strategically prevented or indiscriminately avoided, since human growth is appropriate to our form of birth, but they must be critically understood, and we must discriminate between the persuasions and paths of conventional religious mysticism, or esoteric yoga, and the Wisdom or Way of Transcendental God-Realization.) The Transcendental Way of God-Realization is neither evolutionary nor self-fulfilling. It is founded on the intuition or native motive of Ecstasy, or self-transcendence. It is a matter of the easeful and heartfelt surrender of body and mind, or all the conditions of experience, in every moment. The practice transcends all the experiential and evolutionary significance or content of even our most extraordinary sensations, perceptions, and conceptions. And those who are devoted to such practice transcend all the senses of physical and mental (or psychic) self-existence. They Realize that we are not souls born into the body-mind – we do not inhere in our psycho-physical conditions – but we Inhere or Eternally Abide as undifferentiated Bliss in the Infinite Transcendental Radiance of the Divine Being.
